I think the most recent is the Capricorn White-eye. Described 2003 by
Jiro Kikkawa and published in The Sunbird Vol 33 No 2 August 2003.

Can anyone tell me which is the most recently discovered/described

birds? What
species, when and by whom?
I believe this would be the Eungella Honeyeater (/Lichenostomus
hindwoodi/), described in 1983 by Wayne Longmore and Walter Boles
(/Emu /83(2): 59).
Prior to that probably the Grey Grasswren /Amytornis barbatus/,
discovered in 1967, and described by Alan McEvey and Norman Favaloro?
Also, along this line, how many Australian species were
discovered/described
in each of the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries?
Pass.
And lastly, what is the source/sources to find out such information?
A useful review is published each decade by various combinations of
François Vuilleumier, Mary LeCroy (American Museum of Natural
History) and Ernst Mayr (Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard
University), which lists and critiques all new descriptions. The
last one I have access to was published in 1992 for the decade
1981-90, in the /Bulletin of the British Ornithologists' Club/, 112A.
