Went to the Western area of the You Yangs, SW of Melbourne for a couple of hours today. Ahead of one of the squalls that passed through was a flock of at least 10 needletails. Other birds of interest included -A number of Brown Treecreepers including a couple of young. - A flock of 20+ Diamond FIretails of which at least a dozen were black billed young birds. - Only one bee-eater and none calling at all. -Total lack of thornbills and very few honeyeaters. I did only visit the one area however.
