Hello all,

Further to Keith's email about viewing platforms being built in SW NSW,
the platform at Tullakool has been finished for some time. As for the
third to go in at the ?????? location, is say ?????? as there is, from
when I last herd a few weeks back, still debate on where the structure
will be placed. Redbank Weir near Balranald was the original site
location, but since has been changed so much that the locations is yet
to be finalized and the structure therefore yet to be built.

While the boardwalk and platform at the Reed Beds is an absolute birding
gem and puts you right on the edge of the swamp (see previous emails
from me about this site), the structure at Tullakool, perhaps not as
well thought out, puts you on the edge of the road and about 100 metres+
from the closest evaporation bay.

If heading this way to see and utilize the hide, another worthwhile stop
is at the Horseshoe Lagoon Boardwalk in the heart of Moama.

Cheers
David Parker

Hi Birders,
I was very interested to hear about the boardwalks and viewing platforms
to
be built in SW NSW. It woudl be great if such structures were to be
built at
the Tullakool Saltworks because that place is generally out of bounds to
birdwatchers unless you are in the know, and it is had to access.
Observation platforms at the Great Cumbung Swamp would also be
worthwhile. Thanks keith Stockwell for your report and I look forward to
hearing more about the structgure sin the future.
