Belinda, is this Brighton and Scarborough beaches near
Brisbane?
JLA
Went to Brighton Beach (just south of Scarborough Beach) today and actually saw some interesting birds. A pair of crested terns were among the silver gulls. I've seen them there before. A little later a juvenille pacific gull flew past, a nice surprise. Then the biggest surprise of all, a flock of what looked like black-winged or banded stilts. They didn't strike me as black-winged stilts or avocets so I'm thinking they were banded stilts. Is it common for these waders to be seen at the beach? Anyone know what species they were most likely to have been? Belinda --
