Hi all
whilst my parents are staying, my wife and I have relocated to the sofa bed
in our sun room, which puts us next to our deck and the garden and the
morning chorus. Yesterday morning (28 Oct), we had a Grey Butcherbird
singing right outside the windows leading onto the deck. As well as the
"traditional" butcherbird flute like notes, between these phrases the bird
made an audible soft chirring/growling type sound. None of my field guides
mention this - has anyone else ever heard this. Funny that it isn't
mentioned in the guides, either as part of the song or as another call.
I presume it was a single bird - as I opened the curtains to peep out, there
was one bird that flew away and I didn't see any others.
Cheers
Tom Wilson
