A Noisy Friarbird, found by Mark D., was photographed feeding in a street in
north Beaumaris on 17 October and was still there on 25 October. Is this a very
late date ?
An immature Blue-winged Parrot was at Ricketts Point on 17 October with
possibly the same bird at the same spot the next day.
This reminded me that most of our Neophema records relate to the foreshore in
the last two weeks of October, with birds feeding on or around Grey Saltbush,
Cape Weed and/or Winter Grass.
But I forgot that they are difficult to spot - so this morning (6.30 am 26 Oct)
I got out of the car at Picnic Point, headed for some Saltbush and immediately
flushed 2 probable male Blue-winged Parrots at the edge of the car park ! 40
minutes later at Trey Bit I saw one in flight with possibly more heard.
