Trevor According to "Australian Magpie" by Gisela Kaplan, a successful Mapgie can live to 25 or 30 years, depending on occupying a top quality territory and no accidents. This book, in the Australian Natural History Series, CSIRO/UNSW Press (available from Andrew Isles), contains all the most recent research on this most prominent of our black and white birds, and is a good read for those interested in understanding their local Magpies. |
