Hello All,
Not long returned from two days in Broome, thanks to a cancelled Newcastle Pelagic on Sunday 26th Sept. Drove out to the BBO, booked in and headed off to Roebuck Station, west of Broome. Arrived at the site about 4pm with Frank O'Conner from Perth and within 20min had great views of the Rose-coloured Starling as it cleaned itself on the ground, flew into nearby trees, where it stayed long enough for plenty of shots, then flew to the water for a drink and returned to its usual position on the fence post.
Frank, Tim, Adrian, Don Hadden and I stayed and watched 350waders, 300 other water birds, Brolgas and a lone Rose-coloured Starling until the sunset over the wetlands. A really nice evening which was finished off back at the BBO on a typically balmy Broome night with a few glasses of Cab Sav.
The RCS has now been seen at the same time, about 4pm, four days in a row at the same location. Last seen by us about 5.30pm on Sunday 26th September 2004.
A special thanks to the staff of the BBO, Ricki and Tim etc.
Regards
Richard Baxter
