Sightings
7 September
1 Little and several Long-billed Corellas in the hills near Ruffy
(north-east of Seymour). Thanks George Appleby.
7 September
Beside a pine plantation in the Holey Plains State Park area, two Peaceful
Doves. Thanks Duncan Fraser.
6 September
While birding at the Marlo aerodrome, 11 Latham's Snipe were flushed from
the wet margins surrounding the airstrip. Another early season sighting for
this area. Thanks Len Axen.
5 September
The highlights of this months Port Fairy Pelagic include 1 Blue Petrel, 6
Hutton's Shearwaters, 2 Southern and 2 Northern Royal Albatross, 1 juvenile
Grey-headed Albatross and 2 Grey-backed Storm-petrels. Thanks Mike Carter.
5 September
Peter Lansley saw an Osprey at Point Danger, Portland. Ospreys are rare in
Vic. Thanks Mike Carter.
5 September
A Horsfield's Bronze Cuckoo was seen calling in West Melton, N/E of the
Bulmans & Minns Road intersection. Thanks Micah Kawalek.
4 September
At Wonthaggi in the wetland off Skip Lane, there was a solitary Magpie Goose
in company of swans and cygnets. Thanks Nola Thorpe.
3 September
There were at least 2 pairs of Little Corella in the Drouin area including 1
pair inspecting a hollow in a large Manna Gum. Thanks George Appleby.
3 September
A single Long-billed Corella on the corner of Marine Pde and Pickles Rd.

3 September
Both Fan-tailed and Pallid Cuckoo’s could be heard calling from the look out
tower on the summit of Mount Tarrengower near Maldon township. Thanks Micah
Kawalek.
2 September
There was an extremely large congregation of 60 White-fronted Terns at
Mornington Harbour. Thanks Mike Carter.
1 September
1 Scaly-breasted Lorikeet with a Rainbow Lorikeet on a powerline at the
corner of Marine Pde and Pickles Rd, South Melbourne. Thanks Vin Lam.

11 September
A third Banded Lapwing family has been located near the corner of Palmers
and Sayers Rd, Laverton North. These chicks are less than two weeks old. The
other two families are doing well (chicks over 6 weeks old and developing
the banding of folks) - there are 7 chicks left from the original 8. Thanks
