G'day allRob Drummond and I spent a few hours in Victoria's southern Wimmera yesterday - mostly around the township of Douglas, trying to find our way into the Jilpanger Flora and Fauna Reserve. Highlights:5, 4 and 7 Red-tailed Black Cockatoos in three locations near Douglas and in Jilpanger. Several Diamond FiretailsSeveral thousand Banded stilts with a few hundred Red-necked Avocets on White Lake (south of Douglas). A couple of groups of Variegated Fairy-wrens with several stunning males. This is a great area that is probably little visited by birders. It represents a transition zone between the Little Desert and the south-western Victorian woodlands.
