G'day all,
South Africa have available a compact hand-held electronic Field Guide

http://www.pdasolutions.co.za/
http://www.pdasolutions.co.za/sasolbirds.htm
http://www.pdasolutions.co.za/v2page.htm

Pictures of all 954 bird species found in Southern Africa.
Distribution maps and text.
Over 540 sounds and a logging facility.
Search family lists in English or Afrikaans
New sounds that become available can be downloaded free of charge.

The entire collection of pictures, sound & text is stored on a 128Mb
Memory Card.
No PC necessary.
Just insert the card, run the install files and go birding.
None of the PDA's internal memory is used for storage.

Packages:
The eBirds program can be bundled with a PDA(HP iPAQ 1940/1930).
Or the memory card + program can be purchased separately.

Regards
Bob Forsyth, Mount Isa, NW Qld.
