A small flock of very special Australian birds have returned to their native shores for the first time in more that 150 years, to take pride of place in an exquisite exhibition at the Australian Museum, John Gould Inc. See original Gould prints and exclusive specimens collected on early expeditions to Australia. On the 18th of July these birds will leave NSW. John Gould, the legendary "bird man", is credited with describing almost half of all the birds that live in Australia (745 species). He wrote many warnings about the potential extinction of Australian species. Since European settlement, 23 species of birds have become extinct. The Western Woodlands of NSW provide a home for more than 200 species of birds. More than 20 of these are on their way out.
