Have received message via a third party, that Margot Pritchard has seen a
Grey Heron on 'a weir' 7 km out of Barcaldine QLD. No better directions or
other details available yet. Margot is active with the friends of the
Edithvale Wetlands here in SE Melbourne so knows southern wetland birds
well. Could not identify the bird on sight and could not find it in her two
Aussie field guides. Identified it from research at Longreach. She is
travelling with her partner. I have her mobile number and am attempting
contact.

What a twitch that would be! I suppose one could fly to Rockhampton and
drive 570 km west or fly to Longreach then drive 108+ km east. Of those I
can think of quickly, Chris Barnes and Bill Moorhead at Bunderberg are
closest so please advise immediately either or both of you have located it!
