Subject: [BIRDING-AUS] powerful owl Sheldon Forest Walk
Date: Sat, 10 Jul 2004 22:38:42 +1000
G'day,
Something of interest to add for those going to see the superb fruitdove
at Turramurra Sydney.
A powerful owl was roosting conveniently just above eye level at about
only 5 m off the track on the Sheldon Forest Walk at Turramurra last
Friday, to the RHS (heading down) at the point where a huge fallen trunk
of an old angophora (redgum) has been cut for the track - about half
way between the iron staircase and the spot where the fruitdove and
brown cuckoo-doves feed on privet berries.
As the powerful owl reportedly makes a habit of roosting in a limited
choice of just a few favoured trees, there is a good chance of finding
this one there again.
Regards
