Hi Netters,

With a fair bit of frost on the ground the last few days, I crunched my way across the back lawn to observe 40 plus Silver-eyes fly into my neighbours fruiting Cotoneaster tree. The fruit is very ripe and they tear them to pieces rather then try to swallow the berry whole. My sister at Lapoinya (south of Wynyard) said there are many Silver-eyes in her garden.

The two platypus are still happily paddling around in the dam.

A question for the knowledgeable, a cattle farmer stated to my sister that three Tasmanian Native Hens eat as much grass in a day as one cow, is this true? Didn’t seem right to me, as I think he may want a reason to get a permit for shooting.

All the Best
