Hi all There's been a recent thread on field guides and birding in Japan. I've nothing much to add on the field guide discussion, other than to say that I've got an English version of Wild Bird Society field guide which we found useful there. On where to go for the birds, I would recommend the Bird Forum site: www.birdforum.net/ look in the forums for the heading "ALL THINGS BIRDING" then click on "REST OF THE WORLD INDEX" and go to Japan. There are a series of postings there, from Charles Harper, which are excellent.
