Subject: "Common Breeding Bird Survey" will start in three weeks time
Hi All,
As part of my PhD on climate change and birds, I am trialling a new
survey - and am looking for interested volunteers!
To cover the full breeding cycle, the survey starts at the beginning of
July, and goes until June. This is ideal, as most birds breed over
spring and summer.
Therefore the new survey will be starting in just three weeks time!
It is modelled on the Canberra "Garden Bird Survey", but is more
focussed (at least for now) on monitoring the timing of breeding in
Australian birds.
This does not alter the survey technique itself, other than in providing
information and support to monitor breeding birds effectively.
More information can be found on my web site:
http://www.protoavis.com.au/cbbs.htm
There are flyers there that you can print for your local bird or field
naturalists group, and other information, which will be expanded and
updated as the new survey gains momentum.
So please - let me know if you are interested in being involved, and
pass this information on to anyone else who may be interested!
Thanks in advance,
Heather
