On Friday I visited Warriewood Wetlands, a small wetland area in Narrabeen - one of the Northern beaches of Sydney. In the main swampy area, under the boardwalk, among a group of Pacific Black Ducks was a completely black duck, with just a hint of brown on its back feathers. Its beak matched that of an ordinary Pacific Black Duck in appearance and colour. This is a most unusual colour aberration! It must have been a fully black coloured Pacific Black Duck. According to Bruce Cox, who is a frequent observer in this area, this duck has been there for some time. Any comments ? Jack Shapiro |
