I would recommend left of the old jetty at Chinatown in Broome. Walk along
the edge of the mangroves to the left of the jetty as far as you can easily
go for about 200 metres. Pish. I had success three times in January /
February calling in Mangrove Golden Whistler. No problems to do with mud.
Another good place is the boat launching ramp at Derby. Stand at the top
of the ramp and pish. If you have to go into the mangroves, the mud is
very very very sticky and you quickly gain a few centimetres in height.
I have seen MGW at the Wyndham wharf, and near Exmouth. I used to see them
at the Crab Creek mangroves, and Quarry Beach mangroves along Roebuck Bay
at Broome, but on the last couple of visits they seem to be much harder to
find at these sites.
