Rose Robins are altitudinal migrants and move out onto the NSW western slopes in winter. In winter Rose Robins inhabit much drier habitats than at other times of the year. Certainly out here (Dubbo) it's not unusual to have Rose and Red-capped Robins together in winter. It would happen more often closer to the ranges where Rose Robins breed at locations where Red-capped Robins can also be found (Mudgee, Capertee Valley, etc etc). East of the ranges, Rose Robins would be fairly easy to find on the Cumberland Plain (western outskirts of Sydney). Red-capped Robins are also there but, nowadays, in very small numbers.
