Keith, Here are some web pages that may help you make your decision. (There are others ... search Google http://www.google.com.au for more !) http://www.free-firewall.org/ http://www.iopus.com/guides/free-firewall.htm http://computer-dictionary.bloodhoundnetwork.com/firewall.htm Ensure whatever you get, can check if your PC has any open ports. MS XP comes with an inbuilt Firewall, but the experts claim the others are better To find if it is already switched on Left Click Start > Programs > Accessories > Communications > Network Connections > The Icon for your Provider Right Click that Icon > Properties > Security (tab) >Advanced .. and see if there is a tick for "Protect my computer etc" That page offers more info &a wizard on firewalls Regards Bob Forsyth, Mount Isa, NW Qld. |
