Hey birders,

If you're ever catching the train on the northern line out of Sydney towards Gosford and Newcastle make sure you sit on the right hand side on the train (the left if you're doing the southbound trip of course). As well as being a scenic trip through the Hawkesbury you may see a pair of WHISTLING KITES around the Hawkesbury river bridge, SEA EAGLES anywhere from the bridge north through to Gosford, or PEREGRINE FALCONS close to Wondabyne station.

I've been watching these birds for over two years now from my train seat morning and afternoon and was excited this afternoon to spot a juvenile SEA EAGLE racing alongside the train at window level as we crossed the Hawkesbury river bridge. Must have been a new fledgling on the block because the resident WHISTLING KITES were rather rudely and firmly showing it the way out of there.

Can anyone tell me the typical range size for the WHITE BELLIED SEA EAGLE? I've got a mental image of where I regularly see them in the area and I'm interested in teasing out just how many we've got around here.

Thanks.
Mike.
