Subject: Melanistic Silver Gull

Brenda Newbey reported a grey gull at Coogee Beach this morning (Sunday
21st March).&nbsp; I went there, located the gull and took a number of
digital photos.&nbsp; The bird is undoubtedly a melanistic Silver Gull,
but it was still good to see something a bit different.

Most white parts were a dusky grey, including the usual white windows in
the primaries.&nbsp; The tail and lower rump were the palest part of the
bird.&nbsp; The wing tips were black as they should be.&nbsp; The bill
and legs were dark.
