How the
seasons move on, in autumn perfect conditions prevail at the
Plant.
The vast
construction works continue at a pace. Have you viewed the proposed changes, the
website is www.melbournewater.com.au/wtpaccess
Many waders
seem to have migrated. The T section had the greatest numbers on Thursday.
Red-necked stints, a few Sharpies and only a couple of Curlew Sandpipers.
The Red-capped and Double Banded Plover were enjoying the conditions there
too. The 3 brolgas were on the edge of Austin Rd. Lagoon, plenty of Red-necked
Avocet with some Banded Stilts mixed in were wading about. As always lots
of duck, the Pink-eared were still chattering.
At Kirk
Point the Golden Plover were showing more gold and some black too. There were
many tern on the rocks, no doubt about the Crested Tern, probably a couple of
Common Tern and some Fairy tern(we think)After a lot of discussion re
breeding, non-breeding and juvenile plumage, bill colour and length, leg colour
etc added up to White-winged black tern.
in to Lake
Borrie, plenty of duck and most species, the Freckled duck were crowded on the
rock. At Paradise Road the Cape Barren Geese (20) are still
there.
we are trying to
imagine our regular birding expeditions when there will be restricted travel on
the east side of Little River.
My best
bird was the Brown Goshawk, just sitting on the track, Yellow legs and barring
very visible.
