After some debate it appears that Laurie Knight's plover from Thorneside SE Qld
is probably not a Kentish but more likely a Greater Sand-Plover (as is the
nearby one in breeding-plumage).

This has stimulated some interesting debate and highlights the advantages and
disadvantages of identifying birds from digital images over the 'web.

After putting out my post yesterday I was informed that Laurie had noticed that
the bird in question had a 'complete' breast-band, which was not apparent on
the pics.

It would also be useful if anyone claiming to know the ID of the species could
furnish all of us with their reasoning, enhancing all of our ID skills!

Looking forward to further 'rarities' (....after the impending SEQ deluge!)
