Scaly appearance of upperparts on the Buff-breasted Sandpiper

The scaly apperance of the upper parts is also like that on a Baird's
Sandpiper, a species I was lucky to in the 1990's at Little Bushell's
Lagoon, Wilberforce in Sydney. The upper parts of the Baird's Sandpiper in
non-breeding plumage is
brown like the Rivita biscuits!
