I Think what is happening is that (thanks to John Gamblin) an invitation to join ozbirdpix was sent to Birding-aus - so we all got it.
 
Some people are then deciding to join up.  When you join, you are asked what email address you want to use - and the default is birding-aus, i.e. where the invite went!!!  Then that person realises what they have done, so then unsubscribes.  This why these messages are coming.
 
I joined, but made sure that I nominated my personal email address.
 
I wouldn't be surprised if several more come through!!
