Today at the Lithgow sewage works were a pair of Blue-billed Ducks, including a male in breeding plumage with his lovely blue bill. Also present were about 40 Pink-eared Ducks, 125 Shovelers, 85 Hardheads, 70 Hoary-headed Grebes, a Musk Duck, Little Grassbird plus all the more common species. Lithgow is 135km west of Sydney, on the western side of the Blue Mountains. Access is not allowed into the sewage works but you can get good views of the three ponds from the rubbish tip access road.
