The destruction of eggs of beach nesting birds reminds me of a story I've told before but its worth repeating.
 
A woman on her regular beach walk was advised by the local ranger that she ought to proceed in another direction as she was about to tread on the eggs in the nest of a Red-capped Plover. "Thankyou for your concern" she responded, "but it's okay today because I'm wearing thongs"!
