This morning I took several photographs of what I assume is an immature
Common Koel in Penrith. There were two of these birds in the same tree along
with a Honeyeater (maybe Red wattlebird, but I never got a really good
view).
Pictures at http://members.optusnet.com.au/ozbirds/commonkoel.html (Ignore
the male on the same page, that was taken at a different time).
Questions - 1. Is this an immature Common Koel? Latest Pizzey and Knight
does not show so well defined black eyeline and white whiskermark?
2. All my books say normally only one egg laid. Are two sometimes laid, or
is it just a coincidence that two are sitting within 5m of each other?
Best regards - Mike
