Gooday all,
Changes have occurred over recent years at Cheetham Saltworks Bowen,
Queensland. The wader counts at this site have been conducted since 1984
either as a group or single person visit. No vehicle is used during the
count and the same route is followed. All vehicles are parked off site.
In the 80s and 90s I was able to access the site with minimal fuss being
made about my presence but at all times I had permission from management to
be on-site.
Present process is to sign in and out at the Office. While on site I must
observe all the safety requirements of a Mining Lease, in some cases if work
is being carried out you are advised to keep clear of that area.
During those visits when the Office is closed prior permission has to be
made to visit at particular times reporting to the Manager when you arrive
on-site plus reporting when off-site.
You can contact the Manager on Ph 4786 1266 or Mobile 0408 861 266 if
planning a visit.
