In my last trip report for 2003, I mentioned whether there has been any records for White-eared Monarchs in Sydney yet.
I just looked at my book "Fauna of the Blue Mountains" by Judy and Penny Smith and saw that there was a specimen of this bird collected at Lithgow around 1889. Lithgow is about 150km west of Sydney on the western side of the Blue Mountains.
 
Such a small bird usually seen very high around the canopy of rainforest could easily be missed if one does note know its call.
