Hello all,
Two rarities on Ash Island, Newcastle, this morning(28.12.03)- a Broad-billed Sandpiper and a Long-toed Stint. The latter will be an addition to the Hunter Region list when confirmed. And we only have very few confirmed records for recent times of the Broad-billed SP.
The birds were just off Wagtail Way, at the NW end of it. Some Sharp-tailed Sandpiper and Red-necked Stint were also present.
They could not be found this afternoon (28th), as the water level was to high, early morning would be the best time to look.
Regards
Richard Baxter
