At the BAYBOCA camp at Manfred Ruff's property at Mount Black, near
Nagambie, on the weekend, there was a single male Brown Songlark. It
did not call and was only seen when it was flushed from long grass.
Other good birds included a pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles with a chick in
the nest, adult and immature Peregrine Falcons (fledged from a nest only
100m from the eagle's nest), Crested Bellbird, White-browed Babbler,
Southern Whiteface, Diamond Firetail, Gilbert's Whistler, White-winged
Triller, Olive-backed Oriole, Black-chinned, Brown-headed, Fuscous,
Yellow-tufted, White-eared Honeyeater, Australian Owlet-Nightjar, and
Emu with 4 chicks. Mammal highlight was a Sugar Glider gliding between
several trees.

Tania

G'day all
Normally at this time of year the paddocks around Hamilton (sw
Victoria)
are well endowed with Brown Songlarks. They don't appear to have come
this
far this year. Are they in their usual numbers in other parts of
Victoria?
Cheers
Steve
