Subject: | White-winged Triller: a new vagrant for LHI ? |
From: | Bas Hensen <> |

An adult male white winged triller was seen on 8 and 11/11/03 on
Lord Howe Island near the northern end of the airfield (8/11), and
relocated on 11/11 at 8 am, because it was singing/calling just south
of Cappella South, (about 1 km from the first site), when it was
observed with a scope, to eliminate any possible doubt as to
identification.
It is not amongst the vagrants in the list in the back of Simpson and Day and the local naturalist Ian Hutton confirmed he knew of no earlier records. By the way LHI is a marvellous place and well worth a visit. -- Bas Hensen Geology (BEES) University of New South Wales Sydney NSW 2052 Australia Tel (61 2) 93858701 Home(61 2) 96622302 FAX (61 2) 9385 Birding-Aus is now on the Web at www.birding-aus.org To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
