Hi Sydney,
I recently was tipped off by a non birder of Scarlet HE's in Ryde.
Knowing that his home backs on to the Field of Mars cemetery, I checked the
southern fire-trails off Quarry Rd.
To my surprise he was correct, but as I ventured further down the
trail I found a Collared Sparrowhawk being chased by Currawongs. I was
unable to find a nest, but the hawk only seemed to move between six or
seven trees as it was chased. It was on it's own. Great views. Maybe not
nesting.
Also in the area was :
4 x Etn Yellow Robins
2 x Dollar Birds
Several White Browed Scrub-wrens
1 x Fan Tailed Cuckoo
Sacred Kingfisher
Kookaburra with a small snake
Red-Browed Firetails
Red Whiskered Bulbuls
and other regulars for this area.
P.S.
Channel Billed Cuckoo's and Koels are starting to wake me up at 5am.....
I luv this city
P.P.S.
Is there a NSW only birding site, as I sometimes wonder if BROOME or SA
really needs (or wants ) to know about my local adventures.
Kind Regards,
Simon Hayes
