My view, for what it's worth, is that the sandplover is a Lesser, adult, probably of the race atrifrons: bill structure and size, facial pattern, upperparts colour all point to this. If I'm wrong, I'm in trouble, because I've been seeing a lot of them recently at the Gulf of Carpentaria.
