In case anyone is interested, there were two separate flocks of yellow tailed black cockatoos along the lower Yarra this morning. One group of about 27 was at the Kew Billabong - very confiding too, I was standing at the base of their tree surrounded by several of them at about ten feet distance. Quite large birds up close: I don't think I'd like to have one perching on my hand, judging by what they were doing to the bark of their wattle! Then I ran into another group of five between Dights falls and the Johnston st bridge. Still no kingfishers, though, and no more gang gangs.
