Edwin Vella inquires about geting access to Terrick Terrick National Park
in Victoria.
This national park is about 75km north of Bendigo which is under 3 hours
from Melbourne by car. Access from Melbourne is via the Calder or Northern
Highways then the Pyramid Hill Rd. from Bendigo. The park is mainly
Callitris woodland but the Plains Wanderers have been recorded (I believe)
from the adjacent native grasslands which are now part of the park. There
have been no recent reports of the PW that I am aware of at this locality.
Parks Victoria, who manage these reserves in the state, have a useful web
site where one can download maps etc for most of the parks (see below). A
current map for this locality is under the Terrick Terrick NP draft
management plan link on the PV web site.
As it happens I'm about to go there this weekend for birding with Birds
Australia and it would be great to get a Plans Wanderer, which I have yet
to record.
