Over the last two weekends, we have had some good sightings of terns around Brisbane. Lesser Crested Tern - seen on 14 September at Buckley's Waterhole on Bribie Island, N of Brisbane. There were several roosting on the sandbanks opposite Buckleys and it was possible to get both Crested and Lesser Crested in the same 'scope view. On Saturday morning, 20 September, there were about 8 Whiskered Terns atMinnippi Parklands (SE of Brisbane). Some were in full breeding plumage, making id very easy. I met up with Barry & Joanna Morgan at Minnippi, we are all regular visitors to Minnippi and for all of us it was the first time that we had seen Whiskered Terns there.
