Sightings
14 September
A
Caspian Tern was seen flying along the upper reaches of
Rutherford Inlet, Warneet [Melways 142 J10] - an unusual sighting in this area,
thanks Robin Dzendins.
11 September
There were around 10
Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos in Gardiners Creek Reserve in
Burwood, thanks Greg Oakley.
10 September
A Little
Eagle was seen soaring above West Brunswick, being harassed by half a
dozen Little Ravens, thanks Alan Flack.
9 September

Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos Flying North-East over North
Richmond, thanks Alan Clarke.
9 September
There was a large
flock of 150-180 Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos seen flying over
the bare hills of Loch, approximately 16 km NW of Korumburra, thanks Aaron
Organ.
9 September
A Sharp-tailed Sandpiper
was seen feeding on the rocks and amongst the seagrass at Ricketts Point,
Beaumaris (on either side of the Reserve Road drain), this might be the first
City of Bayside record, thanks Michael Norris.
8 September
A
group of approx 20 Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos were seen in
Faulkner Park, Melbourne (near the Alfred Hospital), thanks Euan
Moore.

A Powerful Owl was seen at
The Wannon Falls Reserve (about 10km west of Hamilton), roosting in a grove of
dense Cedar Wattles, thanks Steve Clark.

Plumed Whistling-duck seen on a farm dam at Upotipotpon, north
of Violet Town, thanks Deb Coulbourne and Julian Miles.

A Red-whiskered Bulbul was seen along Victoria
Road in Northcote, thanks Michael Ramsey and Brendan Toll.

There was a European Greenfinch seen sitting on
fenceline along the Orbost - Marlo Road near "Gilbert's Gulch". An
uncommon sighting for this area, thanks Len Axen.

September
Crescent Honeyeaters and Eastern
Spinebills were the most abundant local species along Whiteside Road,
Officer, this is in a particular area where the Atlas of Vic Wildlife has no
Crescent Honeyeater records, and few if any Spinebills, thanks
Lawrie Conole.
4 September
There was a Rufous
Bristlebird on walking track near Bird Rock, Jan Juc, thanks Hannie
& Willem Groeneveld.
4 September
In East Gippsland there
were 103 Royal Spoonbills at Port Albert, also 43 at Mann's
Beach and 6 at McLaughlin's Beach, thanks Duncan Fraser.

There were 5 Sharp-tailed Sandpipers at Pelican
Point, Tooradin, thanks Damien Cooney.
2 September
A sighting of
a large congregation of around 400 Australasian Gannets were
seen feeding in Port Phillip Bay, off Aspendale Beach, thanks Jacqui
Sheppard.
Early September
There was a large flock of around 50
Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos over Lara, thanks Don Greaves per
Russell Woodford.

13 September
The Powerful Owl in Nelson Place Williamstown,
has returned, or is still there, thanks Corinne Cross

The pair of Black Swans on Lake Tourourrong have 3
cygnets - couple of weeks old by now, thanks Anthea Fleming
Early
September
The Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos have continued
to hang around the lower Darebin Creek corridor at Ivanhoe, numbering between 6
and 12 birds, thanks Anthea Fleming
5 September
There are still
20 Freckled Duck at Newlyn Reservoir - near Creswick, Vic. Also
present were 2 Red-necked Stint (one with an orange leg tag -
indicating it was tagged in Victoria), Musk and
Blue-billed Duck, Great Crested Grebe,
Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo and Long-billed
Corella, thanks Tim Dolby
18 August
2 Regent
Honeyeaters can still be seen in the Chiltern-Mt Pilot National Park,
thanks Aaron Organ.
