you are correct esculenta is the species not the genus. Why I would say
it was the genus I do not know!!!!. I must be more tired than I
realise. What came to mind was the numerous times when I have been
doing searches for esculenta in the Biol Indexes and been directed to
one of the taro plants instead of the swiftlets I was looking for.
Thanks for picking up my error.
Another two names that can be easilly confused (particularly when tired)
is the Family name of the swallows (Hirundinidae) and the specific name
of the Mountain Swiftlet (A. hirundinaceus).
