Took a trip up to Barrington Tops on Sunday to try and
get some of those pesty rainforest species that have
eluded me so far this year.
First stop was Barrington House and it wasn't long
before we had Brush Turkey and Wonga Pigeon. Other
interesting birds seen were Yellow-throated and
Large-billed Scrubwrens, heaps of Brown Gerygone
including one active nest, Rose Robin, 5 Superb
Lyrebirds and 2 Crested Shrike-tit.
Next stop was Peach Tree Picnic area were I saw my
first ever Russet-tailed Thrush, as well as, 2 Green
Catbird, another Superb Lyrebird and three species of
scrubwren.
Last stop was White Rock camping area. Nothing too
exciting except for great views of a Wedge-tailed
Eagle, 2 Satin Bowerbird and 2 Wonga Pigeons.
At the end of the day our list stood at 76 species
with one lifer and three species I hadn't seen this
year.
