Hi Bruce et. al I wrote to Clive Minton, re. three Red necked Stints seen by us on 10/8/03 with flags i.e. orange above and green under on right leg. His reply was that they had put these flags on 4 birds on 9/7/03 at Penrhyn Road and we had seen 3 of them! At the time the birds were feeding normally and flying to and fro. These birds were not the primary target for flags etc. however they were catching Double-banded Plovers to apply radio transmitters to follow their local movements. This project has been most successful, although the birds were feeding at night at the Airport! when he replied. The projects are showing results. I'm not sure if Clive subscribes to Birding-Aus but he always replies promptly to any observations sent to him.
