Simon, I think it is already through, past the consideration stage, as per
the EPBC notice below, which I received today. Note also that the Painted
Snipe is now listed as vulnerable.

"August has seen 3 additions to the EPBC Threatened Species list as
well as an addition to the list of Key Threatening Processes.

1. The new threatened species are:

(a) Rostratula australis (Australian Painted Snipe) Vulnerable
15/08/2003

(b) Euploea alcathoe enastri (Gove Crow Butterfly) Endangered
06/08/2003

(c) Thelymitra jonesii (Sky-blue Sun-orchid) Critically Endangered
06/08/2003

2. The Key Threatening Process is the only 5th process listed
since commencement of EPBC Act to July 2003 taking the total number
of listed key threatening processes up to 14.

Key Threatening Process : Injury and fatality to vertebrate marine
life caused by ingestion of, or entanglement in, harmful marine
debris 13/08/2003"

Cheers,

Jill
