Hi All,

There are currently 60 Freckled Duck on the reservoir at Newlyn - a
small town halfway between Creswick and Daylesford in Victoria.

Other birds of interest include Blue-billed Duck (15), Musk Duck, Red-
capped Dotterel (an unusual birds for this area), Black-fronted
Dotterel, Great Crested Grebe, Tree Martin, and a Crescent Honeyeater
in bush next to the Res.

I've reported on Newlyn Reservoir before - the variety of waterbirds is
certainly 'benefiting' from the consequence of the drought. The
presence of such a large number of Freckled Duck also sits well with
regards to the smaller number of birds at the Western Treatment Plant -
for example see my comments re Lake Lorne
