Hi Dick
Good to hear your Osprey
records.
Although Ospreys are not commonly
observed at inland sites, there are a number of records of Osprey recorded at
such sites. Some of which have been noted by members of this forum (e.g.
Alice Springs, Macquarie Marshes).
It would be very interesting to know
whether there is more than one individual at Lake Inverell and/or whether there
is a nest, as Ospreys are nesting at this time of year.
Recent surveys of Ospreys on the NSW
coast have recorded nests at Wooli, Stuarts Point, west and south of Macksville
and throughout the Nambucca region. Historical records indicate that these areas
have been popular sites for Ospreys, with some local variation between
years.
Regards
Peter
