Hello all,
After fruitless searching and listening for many years, I finally found
a bird in my neighborhood which I have always felt would turn up
someday. Whilst a friend and I were searching for the first
indications that our local Superb Lyrebird had hatched her seasons
chick,, I heard that grating call in the Blackbutts on the hill
above--a Gang-Gang Cockatoo. There he was, his head like a red-hot coal.
He was joined by his less conspicuous wife.We watched them for some time
as they climbed around in the foliage then left them to resume our
search. We had only moved one pool down the creek and bingo! a Powerful
Ow ! This within 15k of Sydney CBD. We didn't find the Lyrebird signs
we were looking for , but I guess you can't have everything.

Reg
