Thanks for the photo. I
really wanted to see whether it fits any of the other species of pigeons that
are kept in captivity, I can't think of any matches there. I think any
similarity to Rock Dove is coincidental on that some Rock
Doves have a lot of white. Can't tell a lot from photos but it looks like
a partly (actually mostly) albino Spotted
Turtle-Dove. It is lacking any pigment in much of the plumage. Strangely though,
it seems that the pigmented parts are darker than usual. Or maybe that is just
an illusion. I don't recall this condition in this species but these things
happen sometimes.

Birders, while not relating to Alice Springs or
central Australia I received a picture of a most unusual STD
today. It could easily be mistaken for a Rock Dove by the colour,
but the shape is that of a STD. Has anyone else encountered odd
coloured Spotted-turtle doves (won't use short-hand here for
obvious reasons)??
