To everyone who has sung the praises of "Bowra"
the bird friendly station north west of Cunnamulla,
let us add our praises.
This isn't a trip report,
I'm just catching up on a weeks worth of emails
at a motel in longreach
(it seems I have a new long lost uncle in Nigeria, )
but thought I'd just post a quick rave
every day of our three days at Bowra was different
a new pallet of birds and conditions.
Waves of budgies
ever present brolgas
easy Halls Babblers
awesome black breasted buzzards
a splendid splendid fairy wren
a crazy spotted bower birds bower
and a great yet successful hunt for the Chestnut Bresated Quail Thrush.
Ian and Julie were the perfect hosts and love their birds..
Ian "just happened" to meet us out on the track one morning
to tell us he had "just happened" to see Bourkes Parrots
at a certain location that we subsequently found.
His fresh tyre tracks criss-crossing the property
told a different story as he first found them, then us.
I can't wait to get back there.
Your list will be different, but just as exciting,
and I can't wait to read about it here.
